Translating a Turkish Medical Report into English
Need a Turkish hospital report, lab result or discharge summary in English for your insurer or home doctor? Here are your options and what to expect.
After treatment in Turkey, insurers, home doctors and employers often ask for an English version of a hospital report. There are two different routes, and the right one depends on who will read the document.
Option 1: an English medical summary
If your insurer or home doctor simply needs to understand what happened, our doctor can read the original Turkish report, discharge summary, laboratory results or imaging report and write a clear English medical summary. Send photographs or scans of the documents on WhatsApp, and tell us who will read the summary.
Option 2: a sworn translation
Courts, immigration offices, universities and some insurers require a word-for-word sworn translation by a licensed translator (yeminli tercuman), which may also need to be notarised, and sometimes an apostille. This is a legal service that a doctor cannot replace, but we can help you understand what you have and what to ask the authority for.
What to send
Send the full original documents, not only summaries: the discharge summary (epikriz), laboratory and imaging reports, prescriptions and invoices. Make sure the photos are sharp and every page is included. Remove nothing from the originals, and keep them safe.
What a translation cannot do
A translation or summary cannot change the content of the report, and a doctor cannot add findings that are not in it. If you need a new examination or a new certificate, we can arrange a consultation.
